Forestry Innovation Investment is a crown agency of the government of British Columbia (B.C.), the westernmost province of Canada. It is also supported by the ministry of Natural resources, federal government of Canada. The mandate is to:

  • Position B.C. as a global supplier of world-class environmentally friendly forest products
  • Actively maintain, create and diversify demand for B.C. forest products in North America and overseas markets
  • Work with the forest industry to promote B.C.'s forest products and sustainable forest management to the global marketplace
  • Help ensure that the forest sector, through product development and strong international sales, continues to be a leading contributor to the B.C. economy

Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. (FII India) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Forestry Innovation Investment (FII) Canada, popularly known as Canadian Wood. Started in 2013 its aim is to promote forest products including sawn lumber from B.C. to India.

FII India’s team helps to spread awareness, create brand visibility and educates the Indian market about certified lumber and other wood products from sustainably managed forests in B.C. This is done by hosting a series of seminars, participation in exhibitions, organising networking events and reaching out to its target audience with communication through paid and earned media.

Its team of wood experts reaches out to leading manufacturers, builders/developers, architects and interior designers to conduct product trials and helps them in identifying the right species and appropriate grades of Canadian Wood for their intended end-uses.

FII India’s business development team also helps establish channels of distribution for the forest industry from B.C. for a steady supply of lumber to the local markets in India. It supports Indian wood importers by identifying and connecting them with the lumber companies in B.C. for procurement of Canadian Wood species.

The following five Canadian Wood species are readily available in India:

  • Western Hemlock
  • Douglas Fir
  • Western Red Cedar
  • Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF)
  • Yellow Cedar
