Western Red Cedar is one of the most commercially valuable species. The heartwood varies in colour from light straw to pinkish red to deep, rich brown. The wood is straight-grained and non-porous and has a distinctive aroma. Weather resistant and highly resistant to decay and termites, Western Red Cedar is ideally suited for exterior applications where durability and dimensional stability is required.

Western Red Cedar is one of the few wood species that are naturally at home in the outdoors. The appealing dark colour, light-weight and soft texture makes it suitable for various interior applications as well. Its flexibility and versatility enables its usage in roof shingles, exterior siding, exterior cladding, decking, greenhouses and saunas.

This wood is also popular for doors, windows, ceilings, wall panelling as well as for millwork. Red cedar is also a good choice for musical instruments due to its superb acoustic resonance properties. Other widespread end-uses include pergola, gazebo, soffit, and screens. Indoors it is well suited for panelling, screens, shutters and blinds.
